1926 - 2022

Geologist, mineral economist, educator

Born Jan. 22, 1926, Cracow, Poland; came to U.S., 1948; son of Wladyslaw and Helena (Sypniewska); married Obdulia (Corona); children: Jasko, Aida.

Education: Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) (magna cum laude), St. Francis College, Brooklyn (NY), 1952; Master of Science (M.S.) (in geology), 1958, Master of Arts (M.A.), 1961, University of Colorado, Boulder.

Career: geologist, Santiago - Temuco (Chile), 1962; associate prof., Colorado School of Mines, 1963 -; visiting prof., University de la Serena (Chile), 1988; faculty research fellow, U.S. Bureau of Mines.

Author: over 20 publications (books, translations, articles) and numerous lectures on mining and mineral economy, Polish and Russian affairs.

Member of: University Professors for Acad.emic Order; founder, Christian Commonwealth of Central Europe; American Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum Engineers (AIME).

Honors: Order of Polonia Restituta, Polish Government in Exile, London (United Kingdom), 1988.

Served with: Polish Armed Forces in the West, 2nd Corps, lance corporal, 1945-47.

Affiliation: Republican. Roman Catholic.
